Calcined petroleum coke is obtained by heating green petroleum coke to a temperature of up to 1400 °C. Due to its high electrical conductivity and low electrical resistivity, CPC is widely used in aluminum anodes, graphite electrodes and other carbon-consuming industries. It can improve carbon content in steel melting and casting. It can also increase the amount of scrap steel and reduce the amount of pig iron, or not use scrap iron at all. It can also be used for brake pedal and friction materials.
The production process of calcined coke includes two main types: petroleum coke and coal coke. First of all, the selection of raw materials is key. Petroleum coke is mainly based on petroleum residues, while coal coke uses metallurgical coal. Then pre-processing steps such as crushing, mixing and molding are carried out to form granular raw materials. Then through drying, the moisture is removed and the effect of subsequent high temperature treatment is improved. The most critical step is high-temperature calcination. The raw materials are placed in a high-temperature furnace to undergo reactions such as pyrolysis, devolatilization and crystallization to form a strong and porous calcined coke. The entire process requires controlling temperature, time and atmosphere to ensure product quality and performance. The final calcined coke has high calorific value, low ash content and excellent electrical conductivity, and is suitable for many industrial fields.
