Graphitized petroleum coke is a product obtained by placing of raw petroleum coke or calcined petroleum coke as a raw material in a graphitization furnace and undergoing high-temperature graphitization to undergo physical and chemical reactions and to remove sulfur and ash and other impurities. Sometimes called artificial graphite, when used in recarburizers, it is often called ultra-low sulfur and low nitrogen recarburizers.
Graphitized petroleum coke is a black or dark gray hard solid petroleum product with metallic luster and porosity. It is a carbon body made of tiny graphite crystals formed into granules, columns or needles. Petroleum coke component is hydrocarbon, containing more than 99% carbon, and also contains nitrogen, chlorine, sulfur and heavy metal compounds.
